For Linda Crowley, the first day of the year had always been set aside to work on new, positive beginnings and 1970 was no different. Her husband and children were by all accounts healthy and no one even considered the terrible thought that tragedy would strike before the day was over, and life as she had known it was gone.

I Would Like To Be Trusted

Someone has some good information or product for sale. I purchase it and actually like it and benefit from it. I begin to think this person is really credible as I take some of their advice or use their product and find it really works. Then they persist in ruining my opinion of them by . . . → Read More: I Would Like To Be Trusted

Without A Vision

Years ago in the beginning of my teaching career in kindergarten we used blindfolds. Each child had their own propped up on their forehead. We would sit in a small group and I would say Lights out!. They would then pull their blindfolds down over their eyes. Their hands immediately became still as they listened . . . → Read More: Without A Vision

Our Own Blizzard

This blog is dedicated to my friend Deb W because she never gets to see snow! 🙂

Last night Cape Cod was graced with a blizzard of our very own. My town, Sandwich, was the jackpot winner with 15 inches of snow. Here at my house, we maybe got about 6 inches because we’re very . . . → Read More: Our Own Blizzard

I Moved It!

By “it” I mean my enhanced body mass index on the fit check machine at Koko. A bunch of members have been coming to me about seeing no change in their e-BMI. I listened to all of them, collected their comments, and commiserated with them, because I couldn’t make my e-BMI change either. In the . . . → Read More: I Moved It!

Fishing Holes

Yeah, I know, any of you who know me personally would wonder why I would write a post on fishing. You would know I’m not a “fisher” – a word I made up years ago to describe my avid fishing husband. Fishing, the kind you do with a pole, is not something I’d ever go . . . → Read More: Fishing Holes

Brain Games

I have never played games on Facebook. Candy Crush just wasn’t my bag. Why? Because I thought it was a waste of my time. I do play words with friends because that keeps my brain nimble – and, of course, I am a lover of words. Tonight I discovered a new “brain gym” that is . . . → Read More: Brain Games

P is for Passion – Click Click Click

Click. Click. Click. There’s no place like home. Follow your passion. Find your passion. It’s the pathway to happiness, so goes the recent hype. I jerk my head up and think, I better hurry up and get out there and search for mine. I thought when I retired from teaching what a wonderful opportunity to . . . → Read More: P is for Passion – Click Click Click

Please…Lengthen Your Telomeres!

I know. Not a household word, but one we all need to know. Tonight at work I was browsing the Koko Stronger Blog and today’s entry was about telomeres being the fountain of youth we all search for. The easiest way to explain it (according to the blog) is to picture a shoelace with the . . . → Read More: Please…Lengthen Your Telomeres!

O is for Order

It’s fun Friday A2Z blog hop day and this week’s letter is O. O is for order. I love order in my life. I love order in my home, my workplace, and my yard. I love order in my family and in my relationships. I love three days of newspapers stacked in order. I love . . . → Read More: O is for Order

Stand Back, Take Stock

We all take a moment to stand back and take stock of whatever it is we do to assess the difference we make in the lives of others by doing it. The other day I got an anxious email from a faithful reader “being selfish” and demanding that I don’t stop writing this blog. She . . . → Read More: Stand Back, Take Stock
