For Linda Crowley, the first day of the year had always been set aside to work on new, positive beginnings and 1970 was no different. Her husband and children were by all accounts healthy and no one even considered the terrible thought that tragedy would strike before the day was over, and life as she had known it was gone.

Why Believe?

I was brought up a believer – in Jesus Christ, that is. There was never a doubt in my mind from the time I was seven years old in First Communion Class in the Catholic Church that Jesus Christ, and God, His father, made me. The nun would ask, “Who made you?”, and in all . . . → Read More: Why Believe?

This afternoon I got a text from my sister. Here is our text conversation. She said:

Have you read “The Time Keeper” by Mitch Albom? I highly recommend it.

No. I’ll look into it.

I just finished it and, especially with all that’s going on with Shar right now, I feel a real sense . . . → Read More: Timekeeping

Remind Me

This is the photo of the suspect after he placed the backpack bomb beside Martin and his family. After all is said and done and prayed for and captured, there is still a lot of inner processing left in the aftermath to do. This photo smacked me hard – harder than all the rest . . . → Read More: Remind Me

Loyalty – A New Twist

In preparing for tomorrow’s bible study, the lesson asked me to write down what I thought the definition of loyalty was. I wrote:

“Sticking with a person or thing, no matter what.”

Good, but not quite good enough. The definition in the lesson was:

“To be firm, be steadfast, be established, be faithful, be sure, . . . → Read More: Loyalty – A New Twist

What is cracking your life into pieces lately? An illness? A lost job? The last dollar? A broken relationship? All Things Papal & Religious

It’s been a papal day. I left the house as the first wave of black smoke appeared this morning. I returned home as the white smoke began to unfurl. After fit club I got the new pope’s name as a news alert on my phone. I sat with my coffee and soup at Panera Bread . . . → Read More: All Things Papal & Religious

Spinach & Smoke

Most of us reading this post remember Popeye’s torrid food affair with spinach. Lately I’m having my own food fascination with the green leaves, except mine is in the form of Panera Bread’s new spinach power salad. It is made with baby spinach leaves, hard boiled eggs, mushrooms, bacon bits, and crunchy onions and served . . . → Read More: Spinach & Smoke

My God, Your God

People are always saying, “My God is….and your God is…” There is no “my God, your God”. God belongs to everyone. He does not put rules and restrictions on how each of us chooses to have a relationship with Him.

I have wanted to write this post for a very long time, but even though . . . → Read More: My God, Your God

Holy Holy Holy….

…Lord God almighty….. How many of you Catholics out there remember that little song from mass on Sundays? It still rings in my head after all these years. While still feeling allegiance to the catholic faith, I have bounced from holy building to holy building trying to find a peaceful home now for many years. . . . → Read More: Holy Holy Holy….

Happy New Year to all my readers. In these first minutes of 2013, let us contemplate peace, love, and joy. Where is that better to be found than in your God? I have a friend I met in yoga class that is the vocalist for the Christian band Skywatch – a wonderful local band here . . . → Read More: Hallowed
