Many treasures lie under the sea, but will Alistar find the one that will make ‘The Perfect Birthday Present’ for his mom? Join this adventurous little sea star and his best buddy Barnaby (a blob fish) as they travel through the beautiful deep blue sea, meeting many other creatures of the deep. When the two friends finally stumble upon the perfect present, Alistar needs to make a difficult decision, which only he can make. When he does, the little sea star learns that there are times when it is not the present that is important, but the thought behind it.

For Linda Crowley, the first day of the year had always been set aside to work on new, positive beginnings and 1970 was no different. Her husband and children were by all accounts healthy and no one even considered the terrible thought that tragedy would strike before the day was over, and life as she had known it was gone.

Gearing Up

Yesterday I announced my intention to participate in Michael Wood's 10,000 step challenge. Today I don't think I could do the sugar part – abstain from added sugar for the whole month – without doing some sort of gearing up during these last few weeks of October. I need some mental preparation and lots . . . → Read More: Gearing Up

Should You?

Should you? Maybe not. Not everyone should. In the blogs that I follow, I came across a very interesting topic. Should you blog? Should you become a plumber? A teacher? Write a book? Play golf? Not everyone should. So, why do we do the things we do?

I follow both Frank Viola’s blog and . . . → Read More: Should You?

Vacation Weekend

This is the first weekend in almost a month my husband and I have been alone. We had some great things planned. Last night we went to the Cape Cod Art Bar. Art Bar Results!

All By Myself

I’m in Arlington MA teaching my Young Author’s Workshop to five superb young writers. The first part of each class works on developing a working writer’s notebook, since the focus of the class is learning to “live a writer’s kind of life”. Each day’s topic deals with observation and noticing the world around us. Yesterday’s . . . → Read More: All By Myself

Just serious appreciation for the friends and family here this week around the fire pit. It’s 6 pm and the kids are just migrating back from the beach. The backyard is cool and breezy. Dinner is simmering on the grill. There’s a Skinny Girl Margarita to my right.

Today I didn’t even attempt the . . . → Read More: Tonight.

Shoveling Shells

This weekend my husband and I had a great time building a new fire pit in the backyard. This involved shoveling shells. Now, you may not think of shells as something to shovel. You think of bark mulch, dirt, and mostly snow when you think of shoveling something, but in our case, this weekend, we . . . → Read More: Shoveling Shells

A Rare Day

Today’s message from the universe was one of simplicity. My NY daughter and I rarely get to spend a day together here in NY. Today she had to shop for a complete outfit to wear to a wedding next weekend and she asked me to go along. Finding a dress and shoes and jewelry was . . . → Read More: A Rare Day

Some days are just filled with love. Not big, huge starry-eyed I'm falling in love love, but teeny tiny fondness love for little ordinary things. This weekend, as I cleaned, relaxed, and did artwork, I found myself saying "I really love and appreciate ______." to my husband four or five times. I asked him to . . . → Read More: iLuv
