Many treasures lie under the sea, but will Alistar find the one that will make ‘The Perfect Birthday Present’ for his mom? Join this adventurous little sea star and his best buddy Barnaby (a blob fish) as they travel through the beautiful deep blue sea, meeting many other creatures of the deep. When the two friends finally stumble upon the perfect present, Alistar needs to make a difficult decision, which only he can make. When he does, the little sea star learns that there are times when it is not the present that is important, but the thought behind it.

For Linda Crowley, the first day of the year had always been set aside to work on new, positive beginnings and 1970 was no different. Her husband and children were by all accounts healthy and no one even considered the terrible thought that tragedy would strike before the day was over, and life as she had known it was gone.

What A Find!

Some years ago I became acquainted with a rock musician from LA. She needed a place to stay while playing a gig here in Boston. We corresponded back and forth, but then the gig didn’t happen. We lost touch, but I kept following her musical career on Facebook. Since then she’s made two CD’s and . . . → Read More: What A Find!

Deadlines, Time & Space

When I first accepted my illustrating project the excitement wore off as soon as I started to begin the actual work and fear set in. Fear that I couldn’t do it fast enough. Now You See Me, Now You Don’t

Just a quick thought tonight because I’m back in Arlington preparing for another week-long Young Authors Workshop at Firefly Moon. I set up the room, grabbed dinner, came back to my host home, and sat down with two-day’s worth of the Cape Cod Times.

I was quickly scanning the advice columns when one story . . . → Read More: Now You See Me, Now You Don’t

I’m in Arlington MA teaching my Young Author’s Workshop to five superb young writers. The first part of each class works on developing a working writer’s notebook, since the focus of the class is learning to “live a writer’s kind of life”.
